Job summary

The City of Philadelphia is seeking a qualified forensic pathologist to perform specialized medical work in determining the cause and manner of deaths under the medical examiner's jurisdiction. You will investigate violent, sudden or suspicious deaths and collaborate with families, hospitals, and agencies.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy with MD/DO.
• Certification: ABPath certificate in anatomical pathology or clinical and anatomical pathology.
• Equivalent education/experience may be acceptable.
• License: valid medical license in PA within six months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Specialized medical work determining cause and manner of deaths under medical examiner jurisdiction.
• Investigate violent, sudden or suspicious deaths and assess criminal negligence.
• Interact with families, hospitals, physicians and agencies; work under supervision of a forensic pathologist.
