This position serves as the recognized resource of the Michigan BioTrust for Health program, providing leadership for
restructuring, oversight, and modernization. This role will guide strategic planning, policy development, stakeholder
engagement, and implementation of program improvements, working closely with internal teams, external partners, and
community stakeholders to guide the BioTrust through a comprehensive transformation. The coordinator will facilitate
national and statewide participation in research studies and special projects involving public health genomics, birth defects,
newborn screening (NBS), and the Michigan BioTrust for Health. BioTrust program activities encompass administrative
oversight of the research use of residual NBS dried blood spot specimens (DBS). The role requires oversight of complex,
multi-institutional research projects and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, department policies, ethical
standards, and scientific best practices. This includes managing research inquiries, facilitating review processes, and
supporting researchers through all phases of project approval, specimen access, and data coordination.

The position is based in the Lifecourse Epidemiology and Genomics Division at MDHHS in Lansing and works closely with
genomics, birth defects, NBS follow-up, epidemiology, vital records and laboratory personnel as well as external partners
such as the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), Community Values Advisory Board (CVAB), contractors and researchers
nationwide working in academia, clinical settings or the private sector.

Education

Possession of a master's degree in public health, health communication, health policy or a public health-related field such as nursing, epidemiology, health education, health economics, dietetics/nutrition management, genetics, or speech and audiology; a master's degree in social work; master's degree in counseling; master's degree in special education with specialization in blind/visual disabilities; or a master's degree in public or business administration with a health care concentration.

Experience

Three years of professional, post-master's experience as a consultant in a field of public health equivalent to a Public Health Consultant, including one year equivalent to a Public Health Consultant P11.

Position Location/Remote Office: The physical location of this position is 333 South Grand Avenue, Lansing, MI 48933. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered. Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

• A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
• A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
