Job summary

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is seeking an Accountant I or II to join the Central Office team in Oklahoma City. The role involves accounting data maintenance, journal posting, payroll processing and preparing financial statements, with in-office work a requirement.

Accountant I/II responsibilities include analyzing data, preparing reports, and supporting budget processes. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required, with up to date GAAP knowledge expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and analyzes financial data to determine funding requirements.
• Prepares financial statements and expenditure reports; assists in budget work programs.
• Maintains ledgers and journals; allocates revenues and classifies expenditures.
• Reviews vouchers and invoices for payment; processes payroll data; supports budget preparation.
