Job summary

Charleston County EMS is seeking a proactive EMS Community Education Specialist to develop and provide education on CPR, Stop-The-Bleed, and related EMS topics. You will represent the department at community events and work closely with the EMS Outreach Team.

The role involves planning trainings, creating educational materials and presentations, and pursuing opportunities with public safety partners to expand EMS awareness across the county.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED; Associate's Degree preferred
• Three (3) years or more of experience in Education, Marketing, Communications, Community Relations or Public Relations
• Valid South Carolina Driver's License with clean DMV record prior to start date
• South Carolina Paramedic or EMT Certification preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and provide education to the public on EMS related issues and trainings (CPR, Stop-The-Bleed)
• Represent Charleston County EMS at community and public events
• Plan events, prepare presentations/exhibits, and design educational materials/photography/videos for events
• Collaborate with EMS Outreach Team and Recruitment Officer to pursue community opportunities

Job description

This position is open for current Regular Full-Time County employees only.

Charleston County EMS is looking for a dynamic individual to develop and provide education to the public on a variety of EMS related issues, including CPR, Stop-The-Bleed, as well as representing the department at community events. This position will work closely with the EMS Recruitment Officer and be a integral part of the Charleston County EMS Outreach Team.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: Increase based on County Promotion Procedures

The EMS Community Education Specialist will develop and provide education to the public on a variety of EMS related issues and training, including trainings such as CPR and Stop-The-Bleed, and will also represent Charleston County EMS at community and public events. This position, as part of our Charleston County EMS Outreach Team, will pursue opportunities in the community and with other public safety agencies to deliver EMS related information and training, plan events, prepare presentations/exhibits, develop and design educational materials/photography/videos for events.

Required certifications and licensure: (please attach to your application)

• HS Diploma or GED; Associate's Degree from an accredited institution preferred AND Three (3) years or more of experience in Education, Marketing, Communications, Community Relations or Public Relations
• OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work demonstrating relevant EMS leadership experience, proven command and IC experience, and experience leading multiple units/companies during incidents and disasters
• Valid South Carolina Driver's License indicating a clean DMV record prior to start date
• South Carolina Paramedic or EMT Certification preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
