Job summary

Office of the Colorado State Public Defender seeks entry-level professionals to support clients through the criminal defense process, helping identify priorities, connect clients with community resources, and mitigate barriers to accessing essential services.

As part of a fast-paced, team-oriented office, advocates work with attorneys to gather information, develop persuasive narratives, and coordinate with social-service partners while upholding professional standards and equity initiatives.

Qualifications

• Entry level role supporting clients through the criminal defense process.
• Refer clients to housing, benefits, and social services as priorities dictate.
• Commitment to DEIB and equity in the workplace is expected.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client interviews to understand priorities and barriers.
• Refer clients to community programs and social services.
• Identify potential civil, family, and immigration needs linked to cases and refer to partners.
• Build partnerships with local organizations to access services for clients.
• Develop and maintain a local resource guide of services.
