Job summary

The Press Hotel in Portland, ME is seeking a dedicated Hospitality Housekeeper to maintain the cleanliness of public areas, restrooms, and back-of-house spaces, ensuring guest comfort and safety throughout shifts.

Responsibilities include cleaning of lobby, hallways, fitness center, and meeting spaces; stocking supplies, reporting safety concerns, and collaborating with Front Desk and Engineering to meet guest needs. Competitive benefits and starting wage of $20 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience cleaning public spaces in a hospitality setting.
  • Ability to sanitize restrooms and stock supplies.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of lobby, hallways, meeting spaces, fitness center, elevators, stairwells, and entrances.
  • Clean and sanitize public and employee restrooms; restock supplies.
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and disinfect floors, furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
  • Remove trash and recycling from public spaces and offices.
  • Maintain employee areas including break rooms and back-of-house areas.
  • Clean and replenish the fitness center and guest amenities.
  • Ensure entrances, windows, artwork, mirrors stay clean.
  • Monitor spaces for cleanliness; address spills and guest concerns.
  • Communicate maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate department.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and follow safety standards.
  • Assist with deep cleaning and other housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain positive communication with Front Desk, Engineering, and leadership.

Job description

  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of all public areas, including the lobby, hallways, meeting spaces, fitness center, elevators, stairwells, and entrances.
  • Clean and sanitize public and employee restrooms while ensuring all supplies remain fully stocked.
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and disinfect floors, furniture, glass, fixtures, and other surfaces throughout the hotel.
  • Remove trash and recycling from public spaces, offices, employee areas, and guest-facing locations.
  • Maintain employee areas including break rooms, locker rooms, administrative offices, laundry areas, and back-of-house hallways.
  • Clean and replenish the fitness center, including equipment, towels, water stations, and guest amenities.
  • Ensure entrances, windows, doors, artwork, mirrors, and decorative features remain clean and well maintained.
  • Monitor all public spaces for cleanliness throughout the shift and promptly address spills, debris, or guest concerns.
  • Communicate maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate department.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and utilize cleaning chemicals safely and according to hotel standards.
  • Assist with special projects, deep cleaning assignments, and other housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Maintain positive communication with the Front Desk, Engineering, and hotel leadership to ensure guest needs are met promptly.

The starting pay for this position is $20.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity.
