We’re seeking someone to join our Corporate Communications team as a Public and Media Relations Vice President to develop and manage communications for the Investment Banking and Capital Markets divisions.

In the Corporate Communications department, we cultivate and protect the Firm’s powerful global brand and reputation, leveraging our resources across media relations, internal communications, philanthropy and digital strategy to ensure we present the Firm consistently in all that we do. This is a Vice President level position within our Media Relations Job Family which is primarily responsible for liaising between the Firm’s lines of business and the media, and preparing materials around corporate events and actions such as earnings and business developments.

What you’ll do in the role
  • Design and execute communications strategy for the Investment Banking and Capital Markets divisions with a focus on promoting key franchises across industries and products to external audiences through press and digital media channels
  • Set communications goals, develop media plans, pitch story ideas, manage inbound media inquiries, coordinate interviews with executives, and serve as a media spokesperson when appropriate
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships between relevant reporters and Investment Banking and Capital Markets leadership, industry and product bankers
  • Engage proactively with media to generate positive coverage of Investment Banking and Capital Markets initiatives and thought leadership
  • Provide strategic communications support on transactions and announcements including drafting press releases, internal announcements and talking points
  • Manage high volume of time‑sensitive press interaction around transactions – sometimes handling issues that involve highly sensitive information
  • Work with business leaders and stakeholders to manage reputational risks
  • Track and report media coverage and statistics, including competitive analysis
  • Coordinate closely with international colleagues and provide regular updates on activities to divisional management on global activity
  • Work closely with internal teams to develop content for the Firm’s external and internal websites and digital platforms that support the communications goals for the divisions
What you’ll bring to the role
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in managing media in the financial services sector
  • A high degree of familiarity with media outlets and reporters that focus on the deal landscape, M&A and capital markets, and a track record of managing coverage around these types of transactions is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide effective editorial and messaging guidance. Confident communicator who can build relationships internally and externally
  • Strong attention to detail with solid organization and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team—making informed decisions in a complex and fast‑paced environment
Compensation

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short‑ and long‑term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley-sponsored benefit programs.
