Job summary

Lozano Smith in Sacramento is seeking an attorney with 1–4 years of practice to support public agencies across California, including cities and school districts. Experience advising public boards and governance matters is a plus, and a strong desire to learn and serve public agencies is ideal.

Duties include advising city councils, drafting ordinances and contracts, and providing counsel on Brown Act, Public Records Act, conflicts of interest and related public law issues.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active California State Bar license.
• Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Interest and/or experience working with public agencies.

Responsibilities

• Advise city councils, boards and commissions during meetings.
• Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts and policies.
• Counsel on Brown Act, Public Records Act, conflicts of interest and related matters.
• Handle matters in procurement, real property and economic development.
