Job summary

MBE CPAs is offering a paid internship program in Arizona where students join a full-service CPA firm and work alongside accounting professionals from day one. You will gain hands-on experience on real client work, receive mentorship, and have opportunities for full-time roles after graduation.

Spring and Summer 2027 internships involve 40 hours/week (spring, Mon-Fri) and 32 hours/week (summer, Mon-Thu). You’ll work onsite at the Phoenix area offices and participate in networking and team events

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in accounting at a technical school, college, or university.
• Interested in pursuing a career in public accounting.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word & Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced accounting professionals in a full-service CPA firm.
• Contribute to real client work while receiving training, mentorship, and support from team members.
• Grow technical skills and knowledge of public accounting operations.
• Assist with tax projects including 1099s and individual (1040) and business tax returns.
• Support accounting services for clients and build professional relationships for your career.

What will my internship look like?

Whether you're joining us for a spring or summer internship, you'll gain hands‑on experience working alongside experienced accounting professionals in a full‑service CPA firm. Interns have the opportunity to contribute to real client work while receiving training, mentorship, and support from team members invested in their success.

You’ll gain exposure to a variety of accounting and tax projects, including preparing 1099s, assisting with individual (1040) and business tax returns, and supporting accounting services for clients. Along the way, you’ll build technical skills, learn how public accounting firms operate, and develop professional relationships that can support your career long after graduation.

What experience and skills do I need to be successful?

• Currently pursuing a degree in accounting at a technical school, college, or university
• Interested in pursuing a career in public accounting
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word & Outlook
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work onsite, collaborate with team members, and take on new challenges in a professional environment
• Previous accounting coursework, internship experience, or public accounting experience is a plus, but not required

What will my schedule look like?

We offer full‑time internship opportunities during both the spring and summer. During busy season, spring interns typically work 40 hours per week Monday - Friday with some flexibility around class schedules. Summer interns follow our off‑season schedule, working Monday - Thursday averaging 32 hours per week. Interns are expected to work onsite at their selected location. Specific schedules may vary based on office needs and workload.
