Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to support patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting. You will implement treatment plans under the guidance of a physical therapist, educate patients on home exercises, and help with discharge planning and resource utilization.

Requirements include an Associate Degree from an accredited PTA program, current PTA licensure in the state, and BLS HCP certification. Some settings may require SC licensure.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program.
• Current PTA licensure in the applicable state; Licensure in SC may be required in some settings.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification.

Responsibilities

• Implements and monitors treatment plans under a physical therapist supervision.
• Educates patients in home exercise programs for all diagnoses.
• Performs modalities including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hotpacks, whirlpool, traction, ice, paraffin, iontophoresis, and therapeutic massage as directed by the physical therapist.
• Assists with discharge planning and utilization of available resources.
• Supervises PTA students and coordinates with the treatment team.
• Maintains cleanliness and stocking of treatment areas; covers reception duties as needed.
