Job summary

COX HEALTHCARE LTD is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to support licensed Physical Therapists in a Skilled Nursing setting. You will help with patient care, discuss treatment plans with the PT, and help prepare the treatment area with equipment and adaptive tools.

You will also assist with maintaining a clean, organized therapy space, move patients to the therapy area, and perform scheduling and paperwork as needed.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Physical Therapist Assistants work under the guidance of certified Physical Therapists to provide supportive patient care to people recovering from illnesses and injuries. They talk to the Physical Therapist about each patient’s condition and what treatments they will assist with during their session. They are responsible for staging the treatment area with the appropriate exercise equipment and adaptive tools for each session, sanitizing the area, removing potential hazards and making sure there is enough space to complete the treatment. These tasks will be performed in Skilled Nursing setting.

Duties will include:

• Helping patients stretch and exercise specific muscle groups.
• Reading instructions from the physical therapist.
• Working directly with the physical therapist to assist patients.
• Speaking with families to find the best at-home techniques.
• Keeping the physical therapy area clean and organized.
• Moving patients from wheelchairs or walkers to the therapy area.
• Completing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and filing paperwork.
