Job summary

South University seeks an Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) to lead externship site development and oversee clinical education coursework for the PTA program.

In this faculty role, you will place students at affiliated centers, supervise externships, and collaborate with the Program Director on governance, compliance, and student success while fostering a positive learning environment on campus and online.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally-accredited university in a field related to the courses to be taught; DPT preferred.
• Current licensure as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant in the state of residence.
• Minimum of two years as CCCE/CI or teaching/administration in PTA/PT program.
• Experience in multiple teaching modalities in post-secondary education.
• Experience in clinical or educational administration and HR management.
• APTA membership preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong relationships with student populations.
• Strong conflict resolution, time management and administrative skills.
• Computer-based skills including email, Internet and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and coordinates all student externships through clinical sites and liaises with the PTA program.
• Assists Program Director with program administration, file maintenance, registration and advisement.
• Participates in governance and long-range planning for the program and university.
• Promotes student success by flexible teaching styles and responsive scheduling.
• Contributes to campus culture by supporting events, orientation and professional development.
• Relates professional experience to learning and keeps abreast of industry trends.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state and accrediting standards and university policies.
• Fulfills administrative, instructional and clinical responsibilities to graduate competent entry-level PTAs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
