Job summary

Legends Global is seeking a part-time prep cook to join the Food and Beverage team at the Wilmington Convention Center. This hands-on role handles the production and inventory of hot and cold foods under the direction of the Executive Chef and follows standards set by the Food & Beverage Director and Executive Chef.

Location: On Site – Wilmington Convention Center. Irregular hours may include nights, weekends and holidays based on the facility event schedule; a collaborative team environment is

Responsibilities

• Maintains organized sanitary workstation at all times.
• Properly labels and dates food items for storage and sales.
• Assists in the preparation of cut vegetables, baked goods, proteins, and salads.
• Minimizes waste by controlling overage and usage.
• Follows approved recipes and production standards.
• Prepare all food for concessions as directed by Executive Chef.
• Perform other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor.

THE ROLE

This position is hands-on and is responsible for the production and inventory of hot and cold foods under the direction of the Executive Chef and works according to established standards and procedures set by the Food & Beverage Director and Executive Chef.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintains organized sanitary workstation at all times.
• Properly labels and dates food items for storage and sales.
• Assists in the preparation of cut vegetables, baked goods, proteins, and salads.
• Minimizes waste by controlling overage and usage.
• Follows approved recipes and production standards.
• Prepare all food for concessions as directed by Executive Chef.
• Perform other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor.

• Ability to recognize and utilize weights and measurements, dry and liquid.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Must be able to identify and properly use all kitchen small wares.
• Ability to produce high-quality food in a fast-paced environment.

• Maintains proper grooming and dress code standards.
• Work ethic encourages strong urgency and quality in a team environment.

Education And Work Experience

• Two years of experience in food service in a kitchen environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination.
• Daily lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. up to 5 minutes at a time.
• Ability to distinguish color.
• See and distinguish objects or symbols 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less. Depth perception, peripheral vision and bringing objects into focus.
• Climbing ladders and staircases multiple times per day as needed to pick stock.
• Constant standing, walking, stooping. Constant reaching, handling products.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Location: On Site – Wilmington Convention Center
• Kitchen environment – otherwise not substantially exposed to adverse work conditions.

Hours Of Work And Travel Requirements

Irregular hours which may include some nights and weekends and holidays based on facility event schedule.
