Job summary

Giant Food is seeking a Pharmacist Immunizer to join our Pharmacy Team in Charlottesville, VA. You will provide vaccine administration, patient education, and MTM services in a fast-paced retail setting.

The role requires an active pharmacist license, immunization certification, and 2–5+ years of retail pharmacy experience. Travel to offsite locations may be needed; we offer comprehensive healthcare, 401(k) with match, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited program.
• Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the hiring state.
• Immunization certification (APhA or state equivalent).
• MTM certification where applicable.
• 2–5+ years retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations, HIPAA and controlled substance laws.
• Experience with third-party insurance processing.

Responsibilities

• Provide immunization services and patient counseling to ensure positive health outcomes.
• Administer vaccines safely and accurately, following ACIP/CDC guidelines.

Position Summary

Love helping people feel their best while delivering care with precision? Join our Pharmacy Team and provide expert support, ensure accuracy and make every patient interaction a positive experience.

The Pharmacist Immunizer is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient administrations of all vaccines for adults and pediatric patients of medications while delivering exceptional patient care in a retail pharmacy setting or an offsite setting. This role is responsible for immunization services, and support for health and wellness initiatives. The Pharmacist immunizer works closely with pharmacy technicians, store leadership, and healthcare providers to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, uphold company standards, and promote a positive customer experience.

Key responsibilities include full clinical understanding of ACIP and CDC approved vaccinations and their approved series as well as any interactions and precautions with administering vaccines. Responsibilities also include, resolving customer and patient's concerns, and ensuring all pharmacy associates are providing best in class customer service and healthcare while managing controllables to improve P&L performance, vaccine inventory management, and maintaining accurate records. The Pharmacist immunizer also engages in patient education and grows vaccination and clinical service programs both inside the store and out in the community. Success in this role requires strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution
• Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of employment
• Immunization certification (e.g., APhA or state-recognized equivalent)
• Medication Therapy Management (MTM) certification where applicable
• 2-5+ years of retail pharmacy experience preferred
• Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations, HIPAA, and controlled substance laws
• Familiarity with third-party insurance processing and reimbursement practices

Salary range is between $49.00 - $61.25 Hrly
