Qualifications

  • NCCA-accredited personal training certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, or equivalent).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, effective personal training sessions.
  • Conduct client consultations, fitness assessments, and program design.
  • Maintain accurate client documentation, scheduling, and session records.
  • Provide quality customer service to all clients in a professional and inclusive manner.
  • Communicate scheduling, client needs, and operational concerns to supervisors.
  • Enforce training program policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Attend required staff meetings and stay updated on fitness trends and safety practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Part-Time Personal Trainer is responsible for providing safe, effective, and individualized fitness instruction to Recreation Center clients. This role supports member wellness by delivering high-quality personal training sessions, maintaining a safe fitness environment, and delivering excellent customer service. The Personal Trainer follows established policies and professional standards to promote client satisfaction, retention, and results.

  • Conducts safe, effective, and goal-oriented personal training sessions for clients of varying fitness levels
  • Provides exercise instruction, demonstrations, and motivation using proper technique and professional judgment
  • Ensures client safety at all times within strength training and cardiovascular areas
  • Conducts client consultations, fitness assessments, and program design using approved methods and equipment
  • Maintains accurate client documentation, scheduling, and session records using designated software or systems
  • Provides quality customer service to all clients and prospective clients in a professional and inclusive manner
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors regarding scheduling, client needs, and operational concerns
  • Enforces personal training program policies, procedures, and professional standards
  • Enforces facility rules and safety procedures and assists during emergencies as needed
  • Attends required personal training and departmental staff meetings
  • Stays current with applicable fitness trends, standards, and safety practices
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
  • Current nationally recognized personal training certification (NCCA-accredited), such as ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of standard practices in personal training and recreational fitness
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and supervisors
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a recreation, collegiate, or community fitness setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency with fitness assessments and exercise prescription
  • Experience working with diverse populations and varying fitness levels

Compensation will be determined based on years of experience or level of certification.

Work Schedule

Part-time schedule with hours varying based on client demand and facility needs. Evening and weekend availability may be required
