Job summary

Plainfield Public Library in Plainfield, NJ seeks a PT Bilingual Library Associate for the Youth Services Department. The 24 hour/week position offers afternoon/evening hours and a Saturday rotation at a pay rate of $25/hour.

Under the supervision of the Head of Youth Services, the Library Associate will plan and implement programs for children and teens, including storytimes and STEAM activities, while engaging with the community and ensuring a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required (MLIS students encouraged to apply).
• Experience working with teens, children, and families.
• Exceptional customer service and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; adaptable to new technologies.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver children's programs, including storytimes, crafts, and displays.
• Assist teens, children, and caregivers with library resources and services.
• Represent the library at outreach events.
• Provide library services at the desk, via email, and phone.
• Create booklists and book displays.
