Job description

Welcome to CentralPet Express Care in St. Petersburg.

We’re building something different.

You didn’t become a veterinarian to spend your life buried in paperwork, racing through appointments, or feeling like your schedule owns you.

What if your next veterinary job gave you the opportunity to practice good medicine, work with a team you actually enjoy, have a voice in how the practice grows—and still have a life outside the clinic?

CentralPet is a locally owned, growing veterinary practice designed to fill the space between traditional general practice and emergency medicine. We provide timely, compassionate care for pets who need more than a routine appointment but don’t necessarily need an expensive, hours-long ER visit.

And because we're building this practice intentionally from the ground up, your voice matters.

Why CentralPet?

Practice Medicine—Not Just Manage a Schedule

We want veterinarians who care about doing good medicine and building relationships with clients—not simply pushing through an endless appointment quota.

You’ll see a diverse mix of wellness needs, urgent medical concerns, vaccines, diagnostics, treatment, health certificates, and scheduled procedures.

You’ll have the opportunity to use your clinical judgment, communicate directly with pet parents, and make a meaningful difference for patients who need care now.

Your Schedule Should Leave Room for Your Life

Our hours are intentionally different from the traditional Monday–Friday veterinary model.

That means your weekdays can actually be yours.

Go to the beach. Run errands. Spend time with your family. Sleep in. Pursue another interest. Enjoy St. Pete.

Whether you’re looking for a full-time position, a flexible schedule, or a role that complements other professional commitments, we’re interested in talking with you.

Work Somewhere People Actually Want to Live

St. Petersburg isn't just where our clinic happens to be located.

It’s part of the reason this job is special.

You’ll be working in one of Tampa Bay’s most vibrant communities—with waterfront parks, beaches, restaurants, art, music, outdoor activities and a genuinely pet-friendly lifestyle all around you.

Downtown St. Pete puts the waterfront, parks, dining and cultural attractions within an unusually walkable urban environment. And if your idea of a perfect day off involves your dog, the area offers everything from waterfront walks to dog‑friendly beaches and parks.

Imagine finishing a Saturday shift and knowing Sunday isn't another workday waiting for you.

Or having a weekday morning free to grab coffee, walk the waterfront, take your dog to the beach, or simply enjoy the Florida sunshine.

We believe a great veterinary career should support a great life—not consume it.

Help Build Something

CentralPet is still growing.

That means this isn't a position where you'll be told, “That's just how we've always done it.”

You’ll have the opportunity to help shape:

  • Clinical protocols

  • Workflow and patient experience

  • Team culture

  • Medical standards

  • New services

  • The future direction of the practice

If you have an idea that will make the practice better, we want to hear it.

Your experience matters here.

Culture Matters to Us

We're serious about veterinary medicine.

We're not serious about making work miserable.

We want a team that works hard, communicates openly, helps each other, laughs together, and genuinely cares about the people and pets walking through our doors.

Our ideal veterinarian is confident enough to practice independently, humble enough to ask questions, and collaborative enough to know that the best medicine happens when the entire team works together.

No egos. No drama. No “doctor vs. staff.”

Just good people trying to take great care of pets.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an Associate Veterinarian with approximately 4+ years of small‑animal clinical experience who is ready for something different.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy both medicine and client communication

  • Are comfortable evaluating urgent medical cases

  • Have strong clinical judgment

  • Enjoy surgery and/or procedural medicine

  • Want autonomy without being thrown into the deep end alone

  • Believe technicians and support staff should be valued members of the medical team

  • Like teaching, learning and sharing knowledge

  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet parents

  • Want to have a voice in the growth of a practice

  • Want a veterinary career that leaves room for an actual life outside of work

Most importantly, you care about how you practice medicine and who you practice it with.

This Could Be Your Next Chapter

Maybe you're happy where you are—but tired of the traditional veterinary grind.

Maybe you're looking for more flexibility.

Maybe you're ready to have more autonomy.

Maybe you've spent the last few years building your clinical confidence and now want a practice where your experience is valued.

Or maybe you've always wanted to be part of building something new instead of inheriting someone else's way of doing things.

That's CentralPet.

We're not trying to be the biggest veterinary practice in Tampa Bay.

We're trying to build a practice where veterinarians want to stay.

Where clients feel heard.

Where teams enjoy coming to work.

Where good medicine and good business can coexist.

And where you can finish your shift, walk out the door, and still have a life waiting for you.
