Job summary

Illinois Central College seeks a part-time Assistant Coach for Baseball at the East Peoria Campus. The role supports training, practices, and games under the Head Coach and assists with recruiting and promoting the program.

The position emphasizes leadership, communication, and adherence to NJCAA guidelines, with on-site duties at ICC’s East Peoria campus.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Associate degree and/or 1 year of HS/college playing experience.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.
• Collegiate playing experience.
• Knowledge of teaching and coaching methods and principles.
• Knowledge of NJCAA/NCAA eligibility guidelines.
• Strong leadership and motivational skills.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist with coaching, training, practices and game supervision.
• Support recruiting efforts for the team and program.
• Represent the program and ICC to prospective athletes and associations.
• Help establish relationships with area media to promote Cougar athletics.
• Coordinate fundraising activities for the sport.
• Ensure program compliance with NJCAA by-laws.
• Aid in scheduling games, meets and travel arrangements.
• Assist with coordinating tournaments and events.
• Support Athletic Director in evaluating program progress.
• Perform related duties as required.

Job Description

Summary

The Assistant Coach is primarily responsible for completing tasks supporting the specific ICC inter-collegiate sports program as assigned by the Head Coach

Compensation

Compensation for the PT Assistant Coach - Baseball is $5,065.00 seasonally.

Essential Functions

• Assist with conducting and supervising the specific sports training, practices, and games.
• Provide assistance with recruiting efforts for the specific sports team and program.
• Represent the sports program and college to prospective athletes from high schools, colleges and appropriate athletic associations.
• Help establish and maintain a relationship with area media to promote Cougar athletics.
• Support and coordinate any fundraising activities related to the sport being coached.
• Assure program compliance with NJCAA by-laws.
• Aid in the scheduling of competitive games, meets and matches, as well as assisting with arranging transportation and room reservations for athletic travel, as requested or needed.
• Assist with coordinating tournaments.
• Assist the Athletic Director to evaluate overall program progress.
• Perform related duties as required.

• Associate's degree AND/OR 1 year of experience playing high school or collegiate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in related field.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• AED (defibrillation) certification.
