Providers use diverse therapeutic approaches and specialized expertise to help patients understand and process emotions in a safe, supportive environment. The practice operates from five locations in Alexandria, Vienna, McLean, and Reston, and also offers virtual appointments.

Role Description

The Psychotherapist in Private Practice will provide individual, couples, and family psychotherapy to a diverse patient population in an on-site setting located in Alexandria, VA. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, maintaining clear and timely clinical documentation, coordinating care with psychiatric and medical providers, and participating in case consultations as needed. The role involves using evidence-based therapeutic modalities to address a range of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges. The Psychotherapist will uphold ethical standards, support continuity of care, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive environment for patients and colleagues. This is a full-time and hybrid role.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Psychology and Mental Health, including assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment.
• Demonstrated skills in Counseling and Relationship Counseling to support individuals, couples, and families.
• Working knowledge of Medicine as it relates to psychopharmacology, psychiatric collaboration, and integrated care.
• Current licensure (e.g., LPC, LCSW, Psychologist) in Virginia or license-eligible status.
• Experience providing psychotherapy in outpatient or private practice settings.
• Ability to maintain accurate, timely clinical records and comply with legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and cultural humility skills to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Comfort with using electronic health records and basic technology in clinical practice.
• Willingness to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and participate in supervision or peer consultation.
