The Department of Psychology resides within the College ofEducation and Professional Studies and has one undergraduate major,five master’s programs, and an Education Specialist degree inSchool Psychology. Accreditations include those from the Masters inPsychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC), theNational Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and a verifiedcourse sequence by the Association for Behavior AnalysisInternational (ABAI).
Teaches, advises, and mentors students, evaluates studentperformance, and maintains department and student records inaccordance with university policies. Adheres to the educationalphilosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner withcolleagues and professional peers. Participates in universitymeetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department,college, and university committees as requested. Preparesdepartmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service,and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenureand promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.Reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.This is a full-time position and will start January 2027.
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate andgraduate (master’s level) Neuroscience/Biological/PhysiologicalPsychology courses and other service courses such as GeneralPsychology, Research Design, and Statistics as needed. Instructionin courses may require a variety of formats (face-to-face, hybrid,and online) and teaching day and evening courses on rotation.Additional responsibilities include involving students in research,supervising master’s thesis projects, serving on committees, andadvisement.
An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited orinternationally recognized institution in the field specified inthe position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairsapproval).
NOTE: ABDs (all-but-dissertation) may apply, but if the doctorateis not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, theposition rank will change to Tenure Track-Instructor.
Teaching experience in higher education and a sustainable researchprogram. Salary is commensurate with credentials andexperience.
Training and research in neuroscience, health psychology,experimental psychology, learning and behavior, cognitivepsychology, or industrial/organizational psychology. Other areasmay include social, developmental, and applied psychology. Abilityto mentor or advise student thesis research in topic areas.
