Job summary

HAN Staff in Brentwood, TN is seeking a licensed psychologist for a contract, full-time role at a correctional facility. The psychologist will perform screenings, assessments, and individual treatment plans for inmates, collaborate with psychiatry and nursing, and participate in rounds.

Travel pay is offered at $76.13 per hour. Some weekend work, 8- or 12-hour shifts, and at least board eligible privileges; must be within 70 miles of the facility.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology
  • Current, unrestricted psychology license in the practising state
  • Minimum two years of clinical experience, including one year in a similar role
  • Valid driver's license
  • Copy of PSV when required
  • Copy of all current required certifications (BLS etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological screenings and assessments based on records and interviews with inmates
  • Collaborate with psychiatry, nursing, physicians, social workers to integrate care
  • Develop, implement, and modify individual treatment plans
  • Perform regular rounds to assess inmate adjustment and needs
  • Apply counseling theories and techniques to caseloads
  • Provide assessments, counseling, and crisis interventions as needed

Shift Details:
  • Full Time Schedules

  • Some weekends may be required

  • 8 or 12 hour shifts available depending on the facility

  • Contract Position (flexible with shift availability is a plus)

  • 4 weeks initial duration Must be at least board eligible to qualify for privileges

Psychologist Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements.

  • Conducts psychological screenings and assessments based on review of available records, and clinical interviews with inmates.

  • As part of a mental health team, confer with other clinical staff, e.g., psychiatrists, mental health service providers, physicians, nurses, social workers, in order to gather and provide information concerning patient psychological problems, to ensure treatment activities are well integrated, and patient care follow-through occurs.

  • Provides treatment to inmates by developing, implementing, and modifying individual treatment plans based on evaluation of needs and level of functioning.

  • Makes regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques by way of treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload.

  • Provides appropriate mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis.

  • Consults with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, security staff, and others, as applicable to gather information and understanding into the reasons for the escalation of problems behaviors and changes in mental health condition of inmates.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Doctoral degree in Psychology.

  • Must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state where practice occurs.The license MUST be in good standing

  • Must have two (2) years of clinical experience, which includes one year in a comparable position.

  • A valid driver's license.

  • Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.

  • Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
