Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Children’s Specialized Hospital in Hamilton, NJ seeks a Psychologist to join a multidisciplinary pediatric team.

You will conduct psychodiagnostic evaluations, provide individual/family therapy, cognitive and neuropsychological assessments, and collaborate with physicians, therapists, and nurses to support emotional well-being and development in infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

Qualifications

  • PhD, PsyD, or EdD required and at least one year of related clinical experience.
  • Current New Jersey psychology license required.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • Experience with cognitive behavioral interventions and autism spectrum preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychodiagnostic evaluations and identify psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and families.
  • Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy tailored to developmental needs.
  • Perform cognitive and neuropsychological assessments to guide treatment planning.
  • Develop patient-centered goals focusing on adherence, pain management, and well-being.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team for family-centered care.
  • Participate in case conferences and provide behavioral health consultation as needed.
  • Support patients and families through evidence-based interventions with therapy teams.
  • Contribute to program development, research, and staff education.

This outpatient Psychologist role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing comprehensive behavioral health services for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. As a Psychologist, you will provide psychological assessment, diagnostic evaluation, therapeutic intervention, and consultation while partnering with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams to promote emotional well-being, resilience, and healthy development. A Typical Day For a Psychologist May Include
  • Conducting comprehensive psychodiagnostic evaluations and identifying the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families
  • Providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy tailored to each patient's developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Performing cognitive and neuropsychological assessments to evaluate cognitive functioning and guide individualized treatment planning
  • Developing realistic, patient-centered goals focused on treatment adherence, pain management, coping with medical conditions, behavioral health concerns, and overall emotional well-being
  • Collaborating with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive, family-centered care
  • Participating in interdisciplinary case conferences and providing behavioral health consultation to clinical team members as needed
  • Supporting patients and families through evidence-based therapeutic interventions while collaborating with occupational, physical, speech, and recreational therapy teams
  • Participating in program development, research initiatives, staff education, and community outreach opportunities
  • Supervising fellows, interns, externs, and other trainees as appropriate while supporting continued professional development
  • Maintaining timely documentation, communicating findings with sensitivity and professionalism, and meeting established productivity expectations

To Be Considered For This Psychologist Opportunity
  • You have earned a PhD, PsyD, or EdD and possess at least one year of related clinical experience.
  • You hold a current New Jersey Psychologist license and a valid driver's license.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Provider certification is required.
  • Experience with cognitive behavioral interventions and working with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent clinical judgment, strong communication and consultation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with children, adolescents, young adults, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Flexibility in work hours may be required.
