Job summary

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia seeks a licensed psychologist to provide consultation, assessment, and intervention for infants and young children enrolled in the Neonatal Follow-Up Program (NFP). The role involves an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, therapists, and a social worker to support families.

Qualifications

• PhD or PsyD in psychology required.
• Licensure as a psychologist in Pennsylvania at hire and license maintenance.
• Internship training accredited by APA/CPA and post‑doctoral training in pediatric psychology.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment and treatment services for children and families in inpatient, day hospital, and/or outpatient settings.
• Maintain Epic schedule and adhere to productivity standards; ensure adequate openings for vacations and conferences.
• Follow CHOP and DCAPBS policies; ensure practice meets licensing standards.
• Practice as an Independent Clinician; uphold CHOP and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with DCAPBS clinicians to implement empirically-based care models; mentor colleagues.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure care aligns with patient needs; participate in committees.
• Provide clinical supervision, lectures, and educational experiences for trainees.
• Engage in clinical research, data analysis, dissemination, and grant support when applicable.
• Complete mandatory education, annual PPD testing, influenza vaccination; maintain licensure and professional growth.

A Brief Overview

The primary role of the psychologist is to provide consultation, assessment, and intervention services for infants and young children enrolled through the Neonatal Follow-Up Program (NFP) and to offer guidance and support for their families. The NFP includes an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and a social worker to serve children born prematurely or with neonatal illnesses, aged 3 months to 6 years. Services comprise developmental assessments, behavioral consultation, medical and neuro‑motor evaluations, and parent support through screening and counseling.

What You Will Do

• Clinical Activity: Provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services to children and families in inpatient, day hospital, and/or outpatient settings; communicates with referral sources as indicated.
• Performs clinical services at a percent of effort as designated by supervisor; adheres to DCAPBS productivity standards; maintains an Epic schedule in accordance with department/division guidelines; ensures sufficient openings for productivity, vacation, and conference time.
• Follows all CHOP and DCAPBS policies and procedures regarding clinical and administrative activity and ensures professional practice meets applicable licensing standards.
• Practices as an Independent Clinician and upholds CHOP, DCAPBS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory body patient care standards.
• Collaborates with DCAPBS clinicians to operationalize and grow empirically‑based models of care; serves as a resource and mentor; participates in QI and patient safety initiatives.
• Collaborates with DCAPBS and other Department/Division colleagues to assure patients receive care consistent with patient circumstance and need; responds to consultation requests timely; participates in committees with membership and/or leadership capacity; supports appropriate scheduling; attends and participates in required meetings.
• Teaching: Provides clinical supervision, lectures, and facilitated learning experiences; establishes high‑quality educational experiences for trainees; participates in interprofessional training and faculty activities.
• Performs clinical research when applicable: designs, plans, and conducts research relevant to practice specialty; collaborates on data analysis, dissemination, and publication; assists with grant applications; ensures appropriate use of research funds; may provide psychological services, supervision, and consultation within research protocols.
• Other responsibilities: Completes mandatory education requirements, annual PPD testing, flu vaccination; maintains licensure and continuing education; collaborates on CHOP requirements; establishes professional growth plans; participates in community service and ongoing practice evaluations.
