CFG Health Systems is seeking a Corrections Psychologist to deliver psychotherapy, diagnostic, and therapeutic services in a contract facility. The Psychologist will be part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team and liaise with other medical disciplines to ensure timely, effective care for inmate patients in accordance with established guidelines.

8 hours a week. The role requires meeting NCCHC, APA, ACA and PBNDS standards, maintaining patient privacy, and contributing to quality improvement

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an accredited program.
  • Current, unrestricted psychology license in New Jersey.
  • Experience with mental health delivery systems preferred in correctional settings.

Responsibilities

  • Performs psychiatric intakes, assessments and evaluations in line with NCCHC, APA, ACA and PBNDS standards.
  • Diagnoses and treats mental illness; conducts psychological testing and crisis interventions.
  • Supports and coordinates with psychiatric and behavioral health care delivery with facility teams.
  • Prepares written reports concisely and timely; maintains proper documentation.
  • Promotes a therapeutic environment and collaborates with nursing and other staff.
  • Adheres to safety, privacy, PREA regulations, and facility protocols.

  • Attends all CFG Health Systems related staff meetings.
  • Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
  • Completes required orientation and trainings directed by facility.
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
  • Follows facility and CFG Health Systems Occurrence Protocol.
  • Adheres to PREA regulations.
  • Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility.
  • Identifies and utilized appropriate channels of communication with supervising staff.
Position Responsibilities
  • Performs and documents routine psychiatric intakes, assessments and evaluations on inmate patients referred by the nursing/professional staff of the assigned correctional facility consistent with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards of care, American Psychological Association (APA), NJ 10-A, American Correctional Association (ACA) and Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS) as appropriate.
  • Ability to diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, psychological assessment/testing, psychological evaluations, and crisis intervention.
  • Supports and provides direction for the psychiatric and behavioral health care delivery system and coordinates with the other functions within the institution.
  • Meets regularly with the site mental health and medical staff for mental health issues as requested.
  • Conducts individual and group psychotherapy.
  • Contributes to behavioral health program development, policies, and evaluation.
  • Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
  • Promotes a therapeutic environment to ensure inmate patients are treated in a professional, ethical and tactful manner.
  • Confer with patient’s relatives regarding illness and treatments.
  • Collaborate with Advanced Practice Nurses.
  • Designate the level of care to be performed and the necessary equipment needed.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
  • Completion from an accredited medical school facility with a degree in Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor Psychology (Psy.D.).
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state is located (maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times).
Minimum Work Experience
  • Experience with mental health delivery systems.
  • Previous professional experience in the mental field that indicates knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorder and psychological evaluation techniques, including psychological assessment instruments.

  • Maintains an active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
