Job summary

Amentum seeks a Psychological Operations (PYSOP) Planner to provide research, planning and analysis support to USPACOM. The role demands PSYOP expertise, strong research skills, and the ability to brief senior leaders on CONOPS and COAs.

Ideal candidates hold a Top-Secret clearance or SCI eligibility and bring experience across policy, operations planning, and national security topics. Travel about 10% is expected.

  • At least 10 years' experience supporting the DoD, in lieu of degree.
  • At least 5 years' experience working in PSYOP.
  • Experience conducting research on a range of topics and functional areas.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient at authoring analytical or policy documents.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with AI or Language Model (LM) tools in system administration, operational planning, or data analysis context.

Responsibilities

  • Support USPACOM with PSYOP concepts, plans and assessments.
  • Conduct unclassified and classified research to support operational concepts and plans.
  • Develop MOE and MOP to assess PSYOP effectiveness.
  • Review and compile PSYOP actions and activities for reporting.
  • Aid senior-level strategic planning and briefings for leaders.
  • Prepare formal papers and background information for senior leaders.
  • Assist in timely responses to policy and planning questions.
  • Coordinate with DoD entities and USPACOM components.
  • Travel ~10% annually to Mainland US and allied nations.

Job description

Amentum is seeking aPsychological Operations (PYSOP) Plannerto provide research, planning and analysis support to U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM).

You would be an excellent candidate for this position if you:

  • Are a self-starter with PSYOP experience who can identify opportunities and take initiative to implement high level programs.
  • We are looking for a candidate who is confident in their knowledge and experience who is able to present new concepts of operations (CONOPS) and courses of action (COAs) to senior leaders.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Support USPACOM with comprehensive and integrated PYSOP concepts, plans and assessments which support USPACOM goals and objectives.
  • Conduct research, both unclassified and classified, on various topics supporting ongoing and emerging operational concepts and plans, distilling that research into recommendations for PSYOP integration into OPLANS, CONPLANS and contingency planning.
  • Research and develop Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) and Measures of Performance (MOP) by which to assess the effectiveness of PSYOP support to plans and operations.
  • Review, assess and compile documentation on PSYOP actions and activities to satisfy OSD and Joint Staff reporting requirements.
  • Aid senior-level strategic planning and briefings, including preparing formal papers and background information for senior leader consumption.
  • Aid in short timeline responses to answer specific questions pertaining to policy and operational plans; analyze subject plans and concepts for areas of concern; research and analyze various pertinent national security policies, military strategies, vulnerability assessments, threat and intelligence assessments, to inform planning efforts and new concept development.
  • Assist in coordination with other Department of Defense entities, including other Combatant Commands, the Joint Staff, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the military Services and USPACOM's component and sub-unified commands.
  • Approximately 10% travel annually, both to Mainland U.S. and Allied and Partner nations, in support of PSYOP events, including conferences, planning sessions, and exercises/experiments.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 10 years' experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD), in lieu of degree
  • At least 5 years' experience working in PSYOP
  • Experience conducting research on a range of topics and functional areas
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient at authoring analytical or policy documents
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with AI or Language Model (LM) tools in system administration, operational planning, or data analysis context. (Including MSS, creating workflows, etc.)
  • Must have an active Top-Secret clearance and be SCI eligible. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working TS/SCI level projects
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university or Graduation from a military command and staff college
  • 10 or more years of experience in PSYOP
  • Experience with Classified Material Security and Handling Procedures
  • 3 years' experience in the USPACOM AOR
  • 3 years' experience on a military staff (Service HQ, Combatant Command, OSD, JS)
Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $145K - $160K (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
