Job summary

RiverValley Behavioral Health in Owensboro, KY seeks a Psychiatrist to lead comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning. You will collaborate with clinicians across teams to ensure person-centered care and quality outcomes.

The role emphasizes prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, documentation in the EHR, and ongoing professional collaboration. This is a full-time position in a mission-driven clinic with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
• Active, unrestricted medical license to practice in Kentucky (or eligible to obtain).
• DEA license with appropriate schedules for prescribing.
• Experience conducting psychiatric evaluations and medication management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with psychotropic prescriptions.
• Provide ongoing medication management and monitoring for efficacy/side effects.
• Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and case managers to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and participate in team meetings.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing and managing psychotropic medications.
• Provide ongoing medication management, monitoring for efficacy and side effects, and adjusting as clinically indicated.
• Collaborate with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, and other medical professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and treatment planning.
• Provide consultation and clinical guidance to staff regarding psychiatric care and behavioral interventions.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and agency regulations and policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and continuing education efforts.
• May supervise or mentor psychiatric nurse practitioners or medical residents (if applicable).
• All other duties assigned.

QualificationsEducation and Experience:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
• Active, unrestricted medical license to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (or eligible to obtain).
• DEA license with appropriate schedules for prescribing.

• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in psychiatric care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
