LocumTenens.com seeks a board-certified MD to provide full-time outpatient psychiatric services in a waterfront Southern California location. You will conduct initial evaluations (60-90 minutes) and ongoing medication management (30 minutes), across step-down outpatient, TAY FSP, and adult FSP programs.
Workdays are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM or a 4x10 schedule; on-site with negotiable call. The assignment is ASAP and ongoing, with on-site support staff available to facilitate care
This facility operates across three distinct programs offering varying levels of outpatient behavioral health care for individuals with serious mental illness. The step-down outpatient program serves stabilized individuals transitioning to lower-intensity care, with a focus on self-reliance and community integration. The TAY FSP provides intensive case management for young adults who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or aged out of foster care, while the adult FSP delivers field-based, high-acuity services for adults with serious mental illness, many of whom present with co-occurring medical or substance use conditions. Support staff are available on-site to facilitate continuity of care.
The assignment is located in a waterfront destination in Southern California offering a range of cultural, natural, and maritime attractions. Notable landmarks include the historic Queen Mary, the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Museum of Latin American Art, and the Long Beach Museum of Art. Outdoor spaces such as Bluff Park, Junipero Beach, and the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden are accessible nearby. The area also features distinct neighborhoods, including Naples Island, Retro Row, and Shoreline Village, providing options for shopping, dining, and coastal recreation.
Clinicians in this role will provide full-time outpatient psychiatric services for a patient population spanning all ages, working day shifts Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, totaling 40 hours per week on-site; a 4x10-hour schedule is also available. Clinical responsibilities include conducting initial psychiatric evaluations (60-90 minutes per evaluation) and providing medication management follow-up appointments (30 minutes per visit) for patients presenting across three levels of care: a step-down outpatient program focused on self-reliance and community integration, a transitional age youth FSP serving young adults with serious mental illness, and an adult FSP serving a high-acuity population that includes individuals with co-occurring medical or substance use conditions. Cases treated include SMI and high-acuity presentations across all age groups, with services delivered on-site and, for the TAY FSP program, optionally via telehealth. Call requirements are negotiable for this assignment.
