Job summary

Wellpath / Correct Care Solutions is seeking a Psychiatrist in California to provide evaluations, treatment, and ongoing care within a correctional or secure setting.

You will monitor psychotropic meds, collaborate with care teams, and maintain clinical documentation. Previous corrections experience is preferred; MD/DO and board eligibility are required. This role offers a competitive hourly compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university with specialty training in psychiatry.

• Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow‑up care while exercising independent medical judgment.
• Monitor psychotropic medications for effectiveness and side effects and adjust treatment as clinically indicated.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary leadership and care teams to ensure uniform psychiatric and mental health services.
• Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on‑call services.
• Support referrals, transfers, crisis intervention, and clinical collaboration with mental health and medical staff.

About The Role

Compensation: $229.5 - $255 / hour

Department: Mental Health

Key Responsibilities

• Support referrals, transfers, crisis intervention, and clinical collaboration with mental health and medical staff.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university with specialty training in psychiatry.

Experience

• Experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.
• Experience providing psychiatric services to an adolescent population preferred for youth facility clinical assignments.
• Corrections experience preferred.

Licenses / Certifications

• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of practice.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in psychiatry.
• Current DEA registration (unless the CPO determines it is optional).
• Current BLS certification.

Additional Details: This Psychiatrist will be overseeing residency rotations.
