Job summary

State of North Carolina - Health & Human Services is seeking a Staff Psychiatrist to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to adults with substance use disorders in acute stabilization and residential treatment settings at JFK-ADATC.

You will conduct assessments, diagnoses and medication management while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, supervising advanced practice providers, and supporting clinical quality and program improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience providing psychiatric treatment to individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, including assessment, diagnosis, and psychopharmacologic management.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices for treatment of substance use disorders, including MOUD and management during withdrawal, stabilization, and early recovery.
• Experience working within an interdisciplinary treatment team with physicians, APNs, nursing, psychology, social work, counseling, and other healthcare professionals.

Description of Work

JFK-ADATC is seeking a Staff Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals receiving acute stabilization and residential treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. The psychiatrist will provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing treatment while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team. This position also provides clinical guidance and supervision to advanced practice providers, consultation on complex psychiatric and medical presentations, and support for clinical quality and program improvement initiatives. The Staff Psychiatrist will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a specialized treatment setting serving individuals with complex behavioral health and substance use needs.

Recruitment Range

Recruitment Range: $170,121 to $340,243

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience providing psychiatric treatment to individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, including assessment, diagnosis, and psychopharmacologic management.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices for the treatment of substance use disorders, including medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and management of psychiatric conditions during withdrawal, stabilization, and early recovery.
• Experience working within an interdisciplinary treatment team, including collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, psychology, social work, counseling, and other healthcare professionals.
• Experience providing clinical supervision, consultation, or education to advanced practice providers and other clinical staff, including chart review, case consultation, development of clinical protocols, or staff education.
• Demonstrated ability to manage patients with complex psychiatric, medical, and substance use treatment needs in an inpatient, residential, acute behavioral health, or similarly structured treatment setting.

Sign-on Bonus Information

A Sign-on bonus of $20,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on budget. Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

• To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
• An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if: The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date); The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency; DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

About the Facility

JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
