About The Position
The County of Riverside's University Health System (RUHS) has employment opportunities for psychiatrists with the Department of Behavioral Health. Board-eligible or board-certified candidates in all specialty areas are encouraged to apply.

- Inpatient Treatment Facility in Riverside

- Detention Health Services across Riverside County facilities such as Robert Presley Detention Center, Cois M. Byrd Detention Center, Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility, John J. Benoit Detention Center, and Blythe Jail
Positions are available on a regular and per-diem basis, with differentials based on location and environment.
Salary Range
- Psychiatry Entry - PD: $88.52/hour
- Psychiatrist I - PD: $134.73/hour
- Psychiatrist II - PD: $142.13/hour
- Psychiatrist III - PD: $149.93/hour
- Staff Psychiatrist I: $123.55 - $170.78
- Staff Psychiatrist II: $134.11 - $175.75
- Staff Psychiatrist III: $141.67 - $185.67
- Staff Psychiatrist IV: $149.00 - $195.30
- Detention Psychiatrist I - PD: $145.98/hour
- Detention Psychiatrist II - PD: $153.99/hour
- Detention Psychiatrist III - PD: $162.44/hour
- Detention Psychiatrist IV - PD: $2.40/hour differential
Essential Duties
Depending on level of expertise, duties include:
- Assuming medical responsibility for patients/clients under direct care.
- Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and mental status examinations (MSEs).
- Reviewing diagnostic data, including labs and consultations.
- Providing detailed reports and maintaining medical records.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
- Administering psychotropic medications and other treatments.
- Evaluating and treating patients using specialized psychiatric training.
- Providing services across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and detention settings.
- Consulting and guiding other psychiatric staff and trainees.
- Participating in quality assurance and improvement activities.
- Providing expert advice, court testimony, and community education.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Physician's and Surgeon's Certificate from California.
- Controlled Substance Registration from the DEA.
- California Driver’s License.
- Board eligibility or certification in general psychiatry; subspecialty certification qualifies for higher staff levels.
Knowledge and Skills
- Principles and practices of psychiatry, including psychotherapy and medication management.
- Ability to evaluate, prescribe, and provide reimbursable psychiatric services.
- Effective communication and collaboration with patients and staff.
