The Psychiatrist provides a full spectrum of mental health care to inmates, including evaluation, treatment, and medication management. They coordinate care with onsite medical staff and ensure compliance with documentation and clinical protocols. The role includes overseeing psychiatric nurses, supporting transfers, and assisting with civil commitments when necessary. Psychiatrists also participate in medical review committees and deliver consultations to facility staff. Services must be provided in alignment with correctional regulations and professional standards.

On‑site obligations: While a hybrid model can be discussed, it is mandatory that onsite one day a week. Hours: The hours currently allowed are between 1330 and 1630 Total = 6 hours per week – This will be split over 2 days. Ex: Monday 3 hours and Thursday 3 hours. Ex: Monday 4 hours and Thursday 2 hours. On‑call frequency: As needed to clarify medications/treatment plan – can be discussed more in depth with the facility leadership during interview. Requesting applicants with an addiction specialty as well as psych counseling in the community. Any corrections experience would be preferred. EMR: ERMA. On‑site LCSW as the MHP to work closely with Psych NP on medication management. No narcotics or controlled substances are ordered/administered. Compensation range is $180 - $200 / hour based on years of experience.
