The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services seeks a Psychiatrist - Admissions to lead a Treatment Team and provide direct psychiatric care at Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute (SWVMHI). This physician will supervise advanced practice providers and collaborate with medical staff to maintain high standards of patient care.
The role requires Virginia medical licensure, DEA certification, and completion of a psychiatry residency.

The staff psychiatrist serves as the leader of a Treatment Team, provides direct medical and psychiatric care for patients assigned to the Treatment Team, and provides consultation to colleagues, supervision of nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants as requested, as well as participating in the Medical Professional Staff organization.
Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is preferred but not required.
Ability to demonstrate satisfactory training, skill, expertise, and knowledge in the treatment of psychiatric patients.
Work experience with inpatient psychiatric populations is preferred.
