Job summary

Variety Care is seeking a Psychiatrist to join the Integrated Health Services department in Edmond, OK. The role involves evaluating and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders across age groups, and coordinating treatment plans with families and care teams.

The position includes on-call emergency coverage, supervision of APPs and students, and Telehealth services when needed. You will participate in clinical governance and work toward improving patient outcomes within the Triple

Qualifications

  • MD with OK state license to practice medicine and OK Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • One year internship in psychiatry.
  • Three years of psychiatric residency.

Responsibilities

  • Provides emergency on-call services to resolve crisis situations as needed.
  • Supervises Advanced Practice Providers (APP) and students as requested.
  • Prepares initial psychiatric evaluation and reviews patient history for treatment planning.
  • Defines differential diagnoses and lists most likely diagnoses.
  • Completes required documentation in electronic medical records by deadlines.
  • Assists in preventing relapses or morbidity in conditions that recur.
  • Uses laboratory tests to inform health care plan decisions.
  • Decides on admission, prescriptive program, and clinical management.
  • Monitors patient progress and communicates with involved staff.
  • Arranges psychiatric hospitalizations when needed.
  • Attends clinical team meetings to review treatment plans.
  • Communicates with patients/agencies about progress and aftercare planning.
  • Provides Telehealth services from remote locations including home when necessary.
  • Supports accreditation goals and triples aim of care.
  • Embodies professional integrity, leadership in department and community, and accountability.

Summary Of Duties And Responsibilities

Diagnoses and treats mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders affecting adults, children and their families. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, determines the appropriate course of treatment, and discusses these treatment plans with the patient and/or the responsible adults.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provides emergency "on-call" services to resolve crisis situations at Variety Care and Northcare as needed.
  • Providers supervision to Advanced Practice Providers (APP) and students as requested.
  • Prepares initial psychiatric evaluation report on prospective patients. Reviews social, medical and personal history of patients, interviews patients and assesses mental status of patients.
  • Define/document differential diagnoses and list differential diagnoses with most likely diagnoses included.
  • Complete all required documentation in electronic medical records according to deadlines/guidelines set forth by payers and leadership.
  • Assist in preventing relapses or morbidity in conditions that tend to recur over time.
  • Utilizes appropriate laboratory tests using prescribed methods and techniques; determines normal and abnormal test results; and develops a health care plan based upon analyzed data.
  • Formulates decisions concerning admission, prescriptive program and clinical management.
  • Monitors patient's progress and ensures that the patient's needs are met by communicating, advising and consulting with residential, educational, medical and other involved staff (outside of team meetings).
  • Determines need for and arrange psychiatric hospitalizations.
  • Attends scheduled clinical team meetings to review and evaluate patient's prescriptive program planning.
  • Communicates with patients and/or agencies, via telephone, correspondence and conferences to discuss patient progress and problems in therapy, drug related matters, aftercare planning, etc.
  • Provides consultation to clinical and nursing staff as appropriate to help deal more effectively with the management of assigned patients.
  • Provides Telehealth services from remote locations connected to a reliable internet resource including a provider's home when necessary.

Qualifications

Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge:
