Job summary

Mental Health Resource Center, Inc. seeks a Staff Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services at the Comprehensive Services Center in Jacksonville. The role focuses on adults receiving medication management and crisis services in a collaborative team setting.

The successful candidate will diagnose, treat, and monitor patients with evidence-based care, maintain strong documentation, and participate in on-call coverage as needed within MHRC’s multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree and board certification in Psychiatry required.
  • Current Florida Medical License and active DEA registration.
  • Experience with medication management and crisis services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnosis, medication management, and treatment for an assigned caseload.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with goals and objectives.
  • Conduct evaluations and review treatment progress at set intervals.
  • Educate patients about prescribed medications and obtain informed consent.
  • Prescribe medications per Florida licensure and MHRC formulary.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and community partners.
  • Offer clinical guidance to MHRC staff and managers.
  • Sign Baker Act documents and provide opinions when required.
  • Review Baker Act placements for appropriateness.
  • Participate in after-hours and on-call coverage for inpatient programs.

Position Summary

The Staff Psychiatrist works closely with the clinical team to assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor individuals receiving psychiatric services. The Psychiatrist provides medication management, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluations, and consultation services while ensuring patients receive quality, evidence-based care in a therapeutic setting.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric diagnosis, medication management, therapeutic interventions, and other approved treatment modalities for an assigned caseload.
  • Ensure each patient has an individualized treatment plan with appropriate goals and objectives.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and treatment plan reviews at established intervals to assess patient progress and make treatment recommendations.
  • Educate patients regarding prescribed medications and obtain informed consent as required.
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with Florida licensure requirements and MHRC formulary guidelines.
  • Collaborate with staff, family members, caregivers, community partners, and other agencies regarding patient diagnostic, medical, and treatment needs.
  • Provide clinical consultation and guidance to MHRC clinical managers and staff delivering behavioral health services.
  • Sign professional certificates for involuntary examinations, provide first and second opinions, and appear in court proceedings as required under the Baker Act.
  • Review and vacate inappropriate Baker Act placements when clinically indicated.
  • Participate in after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage for MHRC inpatient programs and UF Health.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Current Florida Medical License
  • Current DEA Registration/Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to make sound, independent decisions.
  • The ability to recognize and respond appropriately to psychiatric emergencies and life-threatening situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to effectively interact with patients, families, caregivers, community providers, supervisory staff, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining complete, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation.
  • Ability to meet internal and external standards for documentation accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, with the ability to achieve competency in the MHRC EHR within three months of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and email communication.
Position Details

Full-time, Monday through Friday. MHRC offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package. Additional compensation is provided for on-call services.
