Job summary

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist for a physician leadership role in Detroit, MI. You will provide clinical oversight, determine medical necessity, and conduct peer reviews for behavioral health services.

Responsibilities include policy development, quality improvement initiatives, and collaboration with network providers to improve patient outcomes across Wayne County.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry required.
  • Active Michigan Physician License.
  • Active Michigan Controlled Substance License.
  • Current DEA Registration.
  • Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support evidence-based best practice standards for behavioral health services.
  • Review and determine medical necessity for behavioral health services.
  • Conduct peer reviews and clinical consultations with network providers and contractors.
  • Support utilization management activities, service denials, appeals, retrospective reviews, and Medicaid-related clinical reviews.
  • Participate in review processes involving sentinel events, mortality reviews, and recipient rights consultations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining clinical policies and procedures.
  • Provide expertise related to psychiatric evaluations, psychotropic medications, and coordination of care.
  • Deliver training and staff development programs for Medical Directors, providers, network staff, and clinical professionals.
  • Serve in leadership roles for committees including Medical Advisory, Utilization Management, Credentialing, Peer Review, and other clinical oversight committees.
  • Provide consultation to emergency departments, inpatient psychiatric units, hospitals, and community providers.
  • Participate in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Teach and mentor psychiatric residents and fellows.
  • Provide direct patient care and psychiatric consultation services as required.
  • Participate in clinical and administrative meetings and support discharge planning and community hospital reviews.

Position Overview:

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist. This physician leadership role combines clinical expertise with medical oversight responsibilities and is ideal for a psychiatrist with experience in community mental health, utilization management, quality improvement, policy development, and behavioral health leadership. Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Psychiatrist will support evidence-based clinical practices, determine medical necessity, conduct peer reviews, provide psychiatric consultation, participate in quality initiatives, and collaborate with network providers and healthcare stakeholders to improve behavioral healthcare delivery throughout Wayne County.

Qualifications:
  • Job Qualifications & Certifications:
    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
    • Active Michigan Physician License.
    • Active Michigan Controlled Substance License.
    • Current DEA Registration.
    • Valid Michigan Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
    • Board Certification in Psychiatry required.
    • Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred.
    • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a mental health program.
