Job description

Position

Psychiatric Technician (Safety) – Part‑Time. 24 hours per week. Salary range $3,680.40 to $4,705.80.

Location

Salinas Valley State Prison and Salinas Valley State Prison – Psychiatric Inpatient Program, Soledad, CA (Monterey County).

Responsibilities

• Provide basic level of behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to patients in the Psychiatric Inpatient Program in accordance with health care policies, procedures, Mental Health Program Guide, and Title 22 regulations.
• Collaborate with Registered Nurses, facility staff, and the care team to ensure delivery of appropriate and timely health care and coordinate interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care.
• Support daily operations of the Psychiatric Inpatient Program under valid provider orders, delegation, and clinical direction, communicating effectively with patients, team members, and other health care personnel.
• Address ongoing patient needs, work with the larger health care team, and promote efficient, appropriate, and cost‑effective use of health care resources.
• Receive a 15% pay differential for employees physically located at the Psych Program who provide direct patient care more than 50% of the pay period, per policy effective May 01 2022.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE.
• Must be employed within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and be physically located at the Psychiatric Inpatient Program.
• Provide direct patient care more than 50% of the assigned hours.
