Job summary

What Will You Do?

As a Psychiatric Technician Level1 at Pine Rest, you’ll be part of a tight‑knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertise and compassion. Under general supervision and according to departmental policies, procedures, and individual care plans, you will provide physical and emotional care to clients with mental illness and/or developmental delays.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate in day‑to‑day planning and development of programming and implementation of programs for persons served.
  • Assist persons served with personal care, such as bathing, shaving, washing hands, styling hair, using the bathroom, and dressing.
  • Actively participate in safety management, milieu management, crisis intervention and prevention, including monitoring, assessment, de‑escalation, implementation of restrictive measures, and emergency psychiatric and medical care.
  • Survey, document, and report all safety repair and maintenance needs.
  • Perform household duties such as cleaning, cooking, and laundry.
  • Drive and escort persons served to community outings and appointments.
  • Document all progress notes, medication administration, and any other relevant information, reporting any immediate concerns according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitor for and report potential risk to person’s safety that could lead to an adverse outcome.
  • Conduct random and scheduled drug testing and searches of persons served and their belongings, as required.
  • Complete reports and paperwork as needed.
  • Assist in teaching persons served/family social skills, daily living skills, behavioral and coping techniques.
  • Role‑model the mission and values of the organization through appropriate social behavior and problem solving.
  • Provide spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to persons served.
  • Help accomplish treatment plans and goals of persons served.
  • Perform basic office duties, including answering phones, filing, scanning, uploading, and using Microsoft Word.
  • Assist in training new staff.
  • Support a recovery‑focused environment and person‑centered approach within the program.
