Job summary

Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, AK seeks a Psychiatric Technician to deliver client care within a 24-hour framework. You will assist in maintaining a safe, structured environment, engage clients and families, and participate in therapeutic activities as directed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with an AA in Human Services preferred, and at least 2 years in residential or psychiatric settings. CPR/First Aid and Mandt training are required within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Write progress notes in the electronic health record reflecting client progress.
• Respond appropriately to aggressive and violent client behaviors.

Position Summary

Within a 24-hour framework, responsible for the delivery of client care that promotes safety and well-being of all clients in the assigned department (s). To provide a healthy, safe structured environment; engage clients and families in a therapeutic alliance; provide therapeutic interventions as directed; function as an active member of the CRC team. Assist with escorting clients within Bethel and outside of Bethel, when needed. Psych techs are expected to be an active participant in client social, educational and therapeutic activities. Must be able to take direction and have a commitment to learning. Psych techs be 18 years old.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. AA Degree in a Human Services field preferred.

Minimum Experience: 2 years experience in residential treatment, psychiatric, or developmental disability program preferred.

License, Certification, Registration

CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire.

Mandt Training within 1 year of hire.

Valid Alaska Driver’s License and be insurable under corporate insurance.

Medication Training at first available training.

Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.

Equipment/Tools

Basic computer knowledge, accuracy and dependability a must.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Ability to work residential treatment environments.

Ability to write progress reports on clients in electronic health record, which accurately reflect client progress.

Ability to read medication administration records.

Ability to add and subtract.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of rapidly changing situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to understand and apply to variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to appropriately respond to aggressive and violent client behaviors.
