Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a skilled behavioral health RN for home health in Roanoke, AL. Must have 2+ years of psychiatric nursing experience and an active RN license in the state.

You will perform initial evaluations, monitor mental status, manage medications, educate patients and caregivers, and coordinate with the care team for compassionate home care. We offer a $10,000 sign-on bonus and pay in the range of $50,000–$91,400 annually, plus a full benefits package including health plans, PTO,

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state(s) you are assigned to work.
• At least 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience.
• Current CPR certification and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial nursing evaluation, including behavioral health/psychiatric needs.
• Observes and evaluates the physical and mental status of the patient for complications and medication side effects.
• Monitors indicators in patient behavior that call for changes in treatment modality (crisis, suicidal ideation).
• Instructs patient/caregiver in cognitive and technical aspects of care, medications, safety, ADL, coping skills, symptom management.
• Administers IM medications, performs lab draws and specimen collections.
• Acts as a case manager in coordinating care for patients as assigned.
• Completes documentation timely and accurately.
• Supervises LPNs and HHAs.
• Regularly communicates patient progress to the clinical manager, psychiatrist and care team.

Qualifications

• Current RN license, specific to the state(s) you are assigned to work . Must have one of the following to meet CMS requirements for psychiatric nursing in the home care setting:
  • An RN with a m aster\'s degree in a mental health nursing or psychiatric specialty . M ust have nursing experience in an acute treatment unit or other psychiatric setting.
  • An RN with a b achelor\'s degree in nursing . M ust have one year of recent nursing experience in an acute treatment unit or other psychiatric setting.
  • An RN with a d iploma or a ssociate \'s degree in nursing . M ust have two years of recent nursing experience in a n acute treatment unit or other p sychiatric setting.

Please note: Experience must have been within the last three to five years. If not, documentation must support psychiatric retraining or classes or CEUs to update psychiatric knowledge.

• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver\'s license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.
