Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care and leadership across behavioral health. You will assess patients, diagnose using DSM criteria, manage medications, and coordinate care with physicians, nurses, and social services.

You will develop individualized plans with evidence-based approaches, including psychotherapy when within scope, to serve diverse patient populations served by IHS.

Qualifications

• Professional nursing degree with advanced practice certification in Psychiatric Mental Health.
• Active, full, and unrestricted APRN license in the United States.
• Experience performing psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment within clinical guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Conducts psychiatric evaluations across the lifespan and diagnoses using DSM criteria.
• Prescribes and manages psychotropic medications; orders and interprets labs and studies.
• Manages psychiatric emergencies and coordinates levels of care as needed.
• Develops evidence-based, culturally responsive treatment plans and provides psychotherapy within scope.
• Provides psychiatric consultation to physicians and teams on complex cases.
