Five Star Nursing is seeking a compassionate Psychiatric Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care at Terrell State Hospital, an inpatient mental health facility accommodating dual diagnoses. You will support activities of daily living, monitor patients, and document care to meet safety and therapeutic needs.

The role requires prior psychiatric MH technician experience, HHSC policy compliance, and current CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a psychiatric mental health technician or aide.
• Willingness to work in a mental health setting with patients who may have complex behavioral health and dual diagnoses.
• Commitment to following HHSC and facility rules, regulations, and policies.
• Ability to comply with immunization, drug testing, fingerprinting, and required training mandates.
• Current certification in CPR/BLS from the American Heart Association, with ongoing certification maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct patient care in a psychiatric inpatient setting.
• Assisting with activities of daily living to promote patient comfort and independence.
• Monitoring vital signs and observing patient behavior for safety and therapeutic responses.
• Responding promptly to emergencies and safety concerns.
• Maintaining accurate documentation through computer data entry.
• Adhering to facility policies and procedures to meet accreditation standards, including Joint Commission, CMS, and HHSC guidelines.

Position Details:

• Shift Availability:
  • Morning: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM
  • Evening: 2:45 PM - 11:15 PM
  • Night: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Days:Sunday through Saturday
• Term:Initial 6-month engagement with possible extension
• Location:Terrell State Hospital, a facility specializing in inpatient mental health treatment, including patients with dual diagnoses
