How you make a difference

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) provides psychiatric consultation, diagnostic, and treatment services to patients, including medication management and crisis intervention services, while adhering to established policy and procedure and state guidelines. They maintain documentation required by state or facility guidelines to demonstrate compliance with supervision requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive patient assessments, develops plans of care, and evaluates effectiveness of interventions, including medication management and crisis intervention services.
• Maintains thorough documentation in compliance with organization policies and procedures, state guidelines, and best practices, including medication education, seclusion/restraint use, infection control, and risk management.
• Provides individualized care sensitive to the age and developmental needs of each patient, and participates in on‑call schedules and mandatory committees as required.
• Adheres to established formularies for therapeutic regimens and utilizes established procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, while supporting standards of psychiatric care and providing input into committees and meetings as requested.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.

Experience

• Two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Psychiatric experience preferred and/or experience in a residential healthcare institution.

Licenses/Certifications

• Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice highly desired.
• Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.

Additional Details

On‑site obligations: While a hybrid model can be discussed, it is mandatory that onsite one day a week. Hours: The hours currently allowed are between 1330 and 1630 Total = 6 hours per week – This will be split over 2 days Ex: Monday 3 hour and Thursday 3 hours Ex: Monday 4 hours and Thursday 2 hours. On‑Call Frequency: As needed to clarify medications/treatment plan. Requesting applicants with an addiction specialty as well as psych counseling in the community. Any corrections experience would be preferred. EMR: ERMA. On‑site LCSW as the MHP to work closely with Psych NP on medication management. No Narcotics or controlled substances are ordered/administered. Compensation range is $73.92 - $82.13 / hour based on years of experience.
