Job summary

The DC Department of Human Resources is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to psychiatric patients at Saint Elizabeths Hospital. Responsibilities include administering medication, counseling services, and participating in treatment plan development.

Qualified applicants must have at least one year of experience in psychiatric nursing and a valid RN license in Washington, D.C. An understanding of safety protocols and compliance with COVID-19 vaccination mandates is required.

Qualifications

• Sufficiently related to psychiatric nursing in a hospital setting.
• Applicants must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with the District of Columbia.

Job Summary

Provides the full range of nursing care to psychiatric patients in an inpatient setting in the Department of Nursing, at Saint Elizabeths Hospital. Participates with the interdisciplinary team in formulating, evaluating, and revising the total treatment plan. Administers appropriate medication and treatment. Also may provide face‑to‑face counseling services to the individual consumer, groups, or family members for symptom and behavior management, development, restoration or enhancement of adaptive behaviors and skills; and enhancement or maintenance of daily living skills. Provides comprehensive nursing care for complex psychiatric patients and guides nursing staff in the implementation of complex nursing interventions. Leads therapeutic groups with patients and co‑leads therapeutic groups with other nursing staff to guide them in the development of their group skills.

Qualifications

One (1) year of required specialized professional nursing experience as a Registered Nurse, sufficiently related to psychiatric nursing in a hospital setting.

Education and Experience

• Associate Degree – 3 years RN experience
• Baccalaureate Degree – 2 years RN experience

Licensure & Certification

Applicants must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with the District of Columbia (or have applied for licensure).
