Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a clinician to provide crisis counseling and evaluation in the emergency department. The role involves initial assessments, treatment planning, and coordination with the treatment team to ensure timely access to inpatient beds and insurance authorizations.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must have strong and effective communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Must be able to work as part of a robust multi-disciplinary clinical team.
• Internship and/ or work experience within behavioral health including addiction services.
• Strong diagnostic skills and abilities.
• Equivalency of education and experience may be substituted where certification/licensure is not required.

Responsibilities

• Complete all documentation and paperwork specific to the department and in compliance with hospital requirements, DMH, BSAS, The Joint Commission, and insurance providers.
• Responsible for prioritizing acuity and managing patient flow which may include consultations and collateral contact.
• Work towards or maintain highest level of professional licensure and maintain credentialing necessary for specific role.

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

III.Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal office environment. May be required to travel between campuses.

Seeking applicants with availability for per diem coverage of various shifts, primarily evening and weekend, as well as call-outs, vacations/holidays, and as needed. Options for either regular weekly/semiweekly coverage of 1-2 shifts on a monthly basis, or for pick-up coverage on a month-to-month basis.
