Job summary

Talkspace is seeking a Psychiatric Consultant to join our Collaborative Care team. You will support primary care providers, patients, and Behavioral Health Care Managers with regular case reviews and treatment recommendations, including medications, in a remote 1099 contract role.

Ohio-licensed psychiatrists or PMHNPs (FNP preferred) will provide guidance on patient care within a CoCM framework, with 2–5 hours weekly commitment and strong emphasis on collaboration and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Licensed Psychiatrist or PMHNP-BC required; Dual FNP preferred

• Ability to synthesize medical and psychiatric data and provide evidence-based recommendations

We are looking for a Psychiatric Consultant to join our Collaborative Care team. The Psychiatric Consultant supports the Collaborative Care team—the primary care provider, patient, and Behavioral Health Care Manager—through regular consultation on an assigned caseload of patients. The Psychiatric Consultant advises the primary care provider on appropriate medications and other treatment strategies, also providing the care team with educational support on diagnosing and managing behavioral health conditions. This role requires 2–5 hours of work per week. It is a remote 1099 contract position. Talkspace’s headquarters are located in NYC.

What You’ll Do

• Clinical Oversight
  • Provide regularly scheduled (usually weekly) caseload consultation to Behavioral Health Care Managers. Case review consultations focus primarily on patients who are new to the caseload or who are not improving as expected under their current treatment plan. Case reviews may be conducted by telephone, video, or in person.
  • Work with Behavioral Health Care Managers to oversee the status and population health of their assigned patient caseload.
• Treatment Adjustment & Transitions of Care
  • Recommend any treatment adjustments through the case review process or in ad hoc consultations, including medication recommendations and other interventions, within 24 hours of consulting with a Behavioral Health Care Manager or other team members.
  • Advise on treatment for patients who may need more intensive or more specialized mental health care, supporting treatment in the medical setting until patients can be engaged in specialized care as appropriate.
  • Be available to provide occasional ad hoc telephone consultation to primary care providers for very complex patients or challenging patient situations.

About You

• Licensed Psychiatrist or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) required; Dual Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) preferred
• Licensed in Ohio required; additional state licensure preferred
• Experience in a Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) or equivalent
• Demonstrated understanding of the Collaborative Care model for mental health service delivery in Primary Care settings
• Ability to quickly synthesize medical and psychiatric data and formulate effective and evidence-based clinical recommendations
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting
• Excellent communication skills
• Positive, flexible, and solution-focused attitude

Compensation

At Talkspace, we believe that pay transparency during the interview process is a critical part of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our hourly rate bands are based on internal and external compensation benchmarks, which we regularly evaluate to ensure we pay competitively.

The hourly rate for this role is between $100 and $120/hourly. Within the hourly rate bands, leveling corresponds to each candidate’s relevant experience, skills as assessed during the interview process, education, and applicable certifications.
