Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Mental Health Tech to participate in patient care for psychiatric patients in crisis under the supervision of a registered nurse. The MHT will help provide, monitor, and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment in the unit.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, specimen collection, activities of daily living support, and documentation of patient care in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Preferred college course work in social and health sciences.
• One year of inpatient or emergency psychiatry or related experience preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Must obtain crisis intervention training as determined by the facility.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and maintains the therapeutic environment.
• Transports patients and accompanies them for tests and discharge transportation.
• Performs vital signs, phlebotomy and point-of-care testing as needed.
• Assists with activities of daily living and other nursing support tasks.
• Cross-trains and provides staffing support to alternate psychiatric units, as needed.
