Job summary

The Caring Health Center, Inc. seeks a Psychiatric APRN in Springfield, MA to diagnose, prescribe psychotropic medications, and coordinate care with MAT-trained physicians and the Integrated Care Team.

Responsibilities include monitoring medication responses, documenting encounters, attending BH meetings, mentoring junior staff, and providing patient-centered care while respecting privacy and working in a multicultural setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and, where appropriate, prescribe psychotropic medications for DSM 5 diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with MAT trained M.D. providing follow up and supportive services to substance abuse patients.
  • Monitor responses to medication and adjust dosages as needed.
  • Integrate counseling and non-pharmacologic interventions with medication.
  • Coordinate with primary care team to improve health outcomes.
  • Maintain professional, accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Attend BH meetings weekly and other patient care meetings.
  • Attend supervision with Chief Medical Officer and BH Director as scheduled.
  • Supervise NP, PA and medical students during rotations as appropriate.
  • Mentor, teach and consult with MDs, NPs and PAs on DSM 5 disorders.
  • Present lectures to medical and staff on mental health topics.
  • Perform other duties to support the organization’s mission.

Requirements:
  • 1. Licensed in the State of Massachusetts.
  • 2. Bi-lingual-Spanish a plus, but not required.
  • 3. Sound nursing knowledge for effective assessment of, diagnosis of, and treatment of psychiatric disorders.
  • 4. MAT experience or interest preferred.
  • 5. Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate with Integrated Care Team.
  • 6. Compassion and respect for individuals with the disease of addiction
  • 7. Knowledgeable in treating addiction
  • 8. Familiarity with multicultural groups, ability to work in a multicultural setting.
  • 9. Prior experience addressing the BH needs of patients with chronic medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension).
  • 10. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
  • 11. Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect; regard for patient privacy is essential.
  • 12. Organizational skills a must.
  • 13. Computer literacy.
  • 14. Experience with an Electronic Health Record is preferable.
  • 15. Willing to work with an interpreter as needed
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • 1. Diagnose and, where appropriate, prescribe psychotropic medications for DSM 5 diagnoses.
  • 2. Collaborate with MAT trained M.D. providing follow up and supportive services to substance abuse patients
  • 3. Monitor responses to medication(s) and adjust dosage(s), change medications as needed, recognize adverse reactions respond appropriately.
  • 4. Integrates and coordinates counseling and other non-pharmacologic interventions with medication to optimize patient outcomes.
  • 5. Coordinate and collaborate with the primary care team (including providers, pharmacist, medical assistants, therapists, Community Support Personnel, etc.) to improve health outcomes.
  • 6. Maintain professional, accurate and timely clinical documentation of patient encounters.
  • 7. Attend BH meetings weekly as well as other identified meetings for patient care.
  • 8. Attend supervision with Chief Medical Officer and BH Director as scheduled.
  • 9. Supervise NP, PA and medical students during rotations at CHC when appropriate.
  • 10. Serve as mentor, teacher, and consultant to MDs, NPs and PAs on diagnosing and prescribing for DSM 5 disorders.
  • 11. On occasion, present lectures to medical and other staff on topics related to mental health.
  • 12. Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.
Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and writing on a computer. Prolonged periods of standing and walking. May be exposed to adverse indoors and outdoors environmental conditions, bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards and chemical hazards.

This position requires compliance with Caring Health Center's compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the Psychiatric APRN's regular performance evaluation

Salary ranges from $130,000 - $174,699.20
