Job summary

Examples of duties

This position focuses on providing steady, direct care that supports each individual’s daily needs and overall well-being. You will work with a nursing team to deliver safe, respectful, and attentive service. As a Psychiatric Aide, you will perform the following duties:

• Individual Care Support: Use individual-centered approaches to assist with personal care tasks and daily living activities
• Health Monitoring: Take and record vital signs, observe changes, and report concerns to nursing staff
• Mobility Assistance: Help individuals move safely, including positioning, ambulating, and escorting them to activities and appointments
• Emergency Response: Provide basic first aid and assist during medical or psychiatric emergencies using approved procedures and techniques
• Program Participation: Supervise and support individuals during leisure activities and nursing programs
• Living Space Maintenance: Assist individuals with keeping living areas clean, organized, and safe

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM), with a $1.25 per hour shift differential and a 30-minute lunch. You will work a rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays as assigned. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
• Overtime: As needed
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities; or
• Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Other Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
