Job summary

Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital is hiring a Psychiatric Technician II to join the Inpatient Psychiatric unit. You will assist with maintaining a safe environment, support dietary aspects of care, and facilitate communication for patients and staff.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, prior mental health experience, BLS certification, and the ability to stand for extended periods. Evening shift, 3:30 PM–11:30 PM, alternating weekends, pay $25.64/hour.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the guidance of a nurse.
• Assist with safe and clean unit environment and transport.
• Answer phones and facilitate communication with patients and visitors.

Job Summary

The Psychiatric Technician II is a member of a team dedicated to provide the highest quality care and services to our patients by assisting in such functions as maintaining a safe, clean and functional environment; assisting with dietary aspects of care; facilitating communication, i.e., answering phones; transporting patients and assisting visitors. As an integral part of the team, the Psychiatric Technician II is responsible for activities, which promote patient focused care within the Inpatient Psychiatric unit.

Essential Functions

• The Psychiatric Technician II provides direct patient care in accordance with the goals and objectives Nursing Services under the guidance of the Registered Professional Nurse.
• The Psychiatric Technician II provides indirect patient care in accordance with the goals and objectives of Nursing Services under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse.
• The Psychiatric Technician II demonstrates expected conduct, behavior and accountability.
• The Psychiatric Technician II supports the vision, mission, values and balanced scorecard performance measures for MMOV Nursing Services and participates in achieving the objectives and balanced scorecard performance measures at the unit level.

Education and Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in mental health
• CNA certification a plus
• BLS Certification required
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
