Job summary

Sentry Hill at York Harbor in York, ME seeks a compassionate Memory Care Companion to provide kind, consistent support to residents. You will help with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding and mobility, and participate in activities to promote independence.

You will work evening shifts, interact with residents and families, and maintain a positive, professional demeanor while collaborating with the care team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with seniors with dementia; participation in activities is preferred.
• Proficiency in English to perform duties, communicate with supervisor and respond to emergencies.
• CNA or CHHA license may be required depending on the state.
• Basic computer skills; Outlook, Excel and Word are required.
• Compassionate, kind, engaging and helpful.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant action.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Maintain a positive and friendly demeanor toward residents and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Serve residents during mealtime, assist with memory care laundry, and basic housekeeping within the memory care neighborhood.

• Available shifts are 2:30PM-11:00PM and 10:30PM-7:00AM.
• Provide kind, caring, and consistent companionship and support to residents.
• Provide assistance, encouragement, and restorative interventions, as needed, for Memory Care residents to be as independent as possible in their activities of daily living including but not limited to: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility.
• Participate in and lead one on one and group activities.
• Serve residents during mealtime, assist with memory care laundry, and basic housekeeping within the memory care neighborhood.
• Ensure that resident/family/employee concerns receive timely response and follow up, thus striving to provide a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors and co-workers.

Qualifications

• Experience working with seniors with dementia including participation in activities is preferred.
• Acceptable proficiency in English to perform job duties, communicate with supervisor and other employees, and respond and communicate to emergency situations.
• You may need to have a CNA or CHHA license depending on the state.
